Core Area Dynamics

Core Area Dynamics is a subfield of patch dynamics that examines the ecological and spatiotemporal processes governing the interior portions of habitat patches that are sufficiently distant from patch boundaries to be relatively buffered from edge effects, thereby focusing on how within-patch conditions and interactions in these core zones influence population persistence, community structure, and ecosystem functioning.
