Constitutional Supercooling
Constitutional Supercooling is a supercooling phenomenon in alloy solidification in which solute redistribution ahead of the advancing solid–liquid interface depresses the local equilibrium liquidus temperature so that, under an insufficient thermal gradient, a region of liquid becomes undercooled relative to its liquidus and the planar interface becomes morphologically unstable.
