Consecutive Interpreting Competence

Consecutive Interpreting Competence is an interpreting proficiency that specifically entails the capacity to accurately, coherently, and efficiently mediate spoken discourse from a source language to a target language in a consecutive mode, requiring the interpreter to listen, process, store, and reproduce extended segments of speech after the speaker has paused, thereby distinguishing it from simultaneous or sight translation practices.
