Complex I Assembly

Complex I Assembly is a molecular biological process that constitutes the ordered incorporation and organization of nuclear- and mitochondrial-encoded subunits into the functional NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase complex (Complex I) of the mitochondrial electron transport chain, distinguishing it from the assembly of other respiratory chain complexes by its specific protein components, assembly factors, and stepwise intermediate formation.
