Cofactor-dependent Transamination

Cofactor-Dependent Transamination is a biochemical reaction mechanism, belonging to the class of transamination processes, that specifically requires the participation of a cofactor—most commonly pyridoxal phosphate (PLP)—to facilitate the transfer of an amino group between amino acids and keto acids, thereby distinguishing it from cofactor-independent aminotransferase mechanisms.
