Cleavage Development is a structural geological process, within the context of thrust belts, defined as the oriented growth of mineral fabrics due to directed stress and strain during deformation, distinguishing it from other deformation mechanisms by its pervasive, planar anisotropy resulting from phyllosilicate alignment or pressure solution.
