Chronostratigraphic Correlation is the stratigraphic correlation method that establishes the equivalence of rock units based on their position within the same interval of geologic time, distinguished from other correlation methods by its reliance on time-parallel criteria such as fossil lineages, isotopic ages, or astronomical cycles to define contemporaneity across different geographic locations.
