Caveolar Scission

Caveolar Scission is a membrane scission mechanism belonging to the class of clathrin-independent endocytic pathways, distinguished by its reliance on caveolae—stable, flask-shaped plasma membrane invaginations enriched in cholesterol, sphingolipids, and caveolin proteins—to mediate the fission of vesicles from the plasma membrane.
