Catalectic Lines

Catalectic Lines is a metrical phenomenon in poetry wherein a line of verse is formally classified as a truncated or incomplete line due to the omission of one or more syllables at the end, distinguishing it from complete (acatalectic) or internally shortened (brachycatalectic) lines within the same metrical pattern, particularly prevalent in the study of ballad meter.
