Capillary Hysteresis

Capillary Hysteresis is a petrophysical phenomenon characterized by the dependence of capillary pressure-saturation relationships on the history of fluid displacement, manifesting as a divergence between drainage and imbibition curves due to differences in contact angle, pore geometry, and fluid connectivity during wetting and non-wetting phase transitions.
