Brown Berets

The Brown Berets is a Chicano nationalist youth organization that emerged in the late 1960s, distinguished from other civil rights and ethnic pride groups by its adoption of militant grassroots activism, Third World liberation rhetoric, and paramilitary structure to advocate for Mexican American empowerment, educational reform, and resistance to systemic oppression.
