Broaching-to

Broaching-To is a ship dynamic instability phenomenon, classified under ship motions in waves, wherein a vessel experiences a sudden and uncontrollable yawing motion in following or quartering seas, leading to a near-broadside orientation to the wave direction and potentially resulting in loss of directional control, excessive heeling, or capsize.
