Branch Point Selection

Branch Point Selection is a molecular biology process that identifies the specific adenine nucleotide within a pre-mRNA intron that serves as the nucleation site for the formation of the lariat structure during spliceosome-mediated splicing, thereby determining the 3' boundary of the upstream exon in the exon definition model.
