Borehole Deformation

Borehole Deformation is a geomechanical phenomenon characterized by the distortion or alteration of a wellbore's shape and dimensions in response to stress-induced rock deformation, distinguishing it from other subsurface deformation processes by its localized occurrence along the wellbore-walls and its direct dependence on in-situ stress anisotropy, pore pressure, and rock mechanical properties.
