Blocking Anticyclones

Blocking Anticyclones is a persistent, quasi-stationary high-pressure system in the mid-latitudes that disrupts the typical zonal flow of the synoptic-scale circulation by deflecting or decelerating transient weather systems, thereby causing prolonged and often extreme weather conditions within the context of synoptic climatology and large-scale atmospheric circulation.
