Block Transfer Model

The Block Transfer Model is an abstract computational model in external memory algorithms that generalizes the cost of data movement by measuring performance in terms of block transfers between memory hierarchies, distinguishing itself from classical models by accounting for the amortized efficiency of transferring contiguous blocks of data rather than individual elements.
