Block Copolymer Microphase Separation

Block Copolymer Microphase Separation is a thermodynamic self-assembly process in which chemically distinct polymer blocks within a single macromolecule laterally segregate on a nanometer scale due to unfavorable interfacial interactions, yet remain covalently bonded, resulting in the formation of periodically ordered microdomains.
