Basin Subsidence

Basin Subsidence is a geological process denoting the downward vertical displacement of a sedimentary basin’s lithospheric crust in response to tectonic, sedimentary, or magmatic loading, distinguished within the context of lithospheric flexure and planetary isostasy by its reliance on the flexural rigidity of the lithosphere and isostatic compensation mechanisms to explain the temporal and spatial evolution of subsidence.
