Base Pair Stacking

Base Pair Stacking is a stabilizing interaction in nucleic acid secondary structure, distinguished from other base pairing and base stacking phenomena by the non-covalent, π-orbital overlap between adjacent Watson-Crick or non-canonical base pairs in a DNA or RNA helix that enhances conformational rigidity and thermal stability.
