Barton Reaction
The Barton Reaction is a photochemical radical reaction in organic chemistry whereby an alkyl nitrite undergoes homolytic cleavage upon ultraviolet irradiation to generate an alkoxyl radical, which subsequently abstracts a hydrogen atom intramolecularly to form a carbon-centered radical that participates in further functionalization, thus enabling remote C–H bond functionalization.
