Barabbas Narrative

The Barabbas Narrative is a literary-critical construct within New Testament scholarship that denotes the narrative episode in the Passion accounts wherein the crowd, during the Passover custom of prisoner release, chooses the insurgent Barabbas over Jesus, thereby serving as a theological and socio-political motif emblematic of collective rejection of divine salvation in favor of revolutionary violence.
