Application Efficiency Design is a methodological framework within irrigation system design that specifies the optimal delivery of water to crops by maximizing the ratio of water stored in the root zone to water applied, thereby distinguishing itself from other design approaches through its focus on minimizing losses due to runoff, deep percolation, and evaporation.
