Anelastic Approximation

Anelastic Approximation is a mathematical modeling assumption in atmospheric and oceanic fluid dynamics, within the framework of the Primitive Equations, that filters out fast-moving acoustic waves by assuming density perturbations are negligible in the time derivative of the continuity equation while retaining their effects in buoyancy and pressure gradient terms.
