American Impressionism

American Impressionism is a late nineteenth- to early twentieth-century art movement within the broader tradition of Impressionism that adapts French Impressionist techniques to American subjects, emphasizing light, color, and atmosphere in depictions of domestic landscapes, middle-class leisure, and rural life while maintaining a more structured composition and representational clarity than its European counterpart.
