Adiabatic Separation

Adiabatic Separation is a theoretical framework in quantum chemistry that partitions the total wavefunction of a molecular system into electronic and nuclear components by assuming that electronic motion adapts instantaneously to slow nuclear motion, thereby enabling the decoupling of electronic and nuclear degrees of freedom under the Born-Oppenheimer Approximation.
