Activation Overpotential

Activation Overpotential is the excess potential required to drive an electrochemical reaction at a finite rate due to the energy barrier associated with electron transfer at the electrode-electrolyte interface, distinguishing it from other overpotentials by its origin in the kinetics of the charge transfer process.
