Actions-angles Formalism

Actions-Angles Formalism is a mathematical framework in galactic kinematics that describes the motion of stars in a gravitational potential by expressing their orbits in terms of action variables, which quantify the amplitude of oscillation in each degree of freedom, and angle variables, which specify the phase of the orbit, thereby enabling the analysis of stellar trajectories in integrable systems.
