Action Functional
The Action Functional is a mathematical functional in the path integral formulation of quantum mechanics that assigns to each possible path of a physical system a scalar value equal to the time integral of the Lagrangian, serving as the fundamental quantity whose minimization determines the classical trajectory and whose exponential weighted sum over all paths defines the quantum amplitude.
