Accumulation Distributions
Accumulation Distributions is a category of trust distribution in income tax law that denotes the portion of amounts properly paid, credited, or required to be distributed to a beneficiary in a taxable year, other than income required to be distributed currently, that exceeds the trust’s distributable net income for that year after reduction by such currently distributable income and is accordingly treated as a distribution of previously accumulated income for purposes of special “throwback” taxation rules.
