Based on the number of channels filled with fluid, four states-namely states 0, 1, 2, and 3-of operation are selected. Introduction of fluid (distilled water) in the channel modifies the effective permittivity of the dielectric medium and perturbs the E-field distribution in vicinity to the antenna arm. The position and size of channels are optimized to maximize the shift in operating frequency and $S_{11}<; $$-$10 dB impedance bandwidth through full-wave electromagnetic (HFSS) simulations. A prototype of the antenna is fabricated and measured, exhibiting frequency shifts of 12.0%, 17.9%, and 23.7% with impedance bandwidth of 32.0%, 30.1%, and 29.9% in states 1, 2, and 3 of the antenna, respectively. The reference state, i.e., state 0, offers 34.7% impedance bandwidth. The measured peak gains achieved are 2.4, 1.6, 1.2, and 0.3 dBi for states 0, 1, 2, and 3, respectively. In all the states of operation, the radiation pattern remains stable and omnidirectional.23:T4cd,A fluidically reconfigurable millimeter-wave (mm-wave)-lensed antenna is reported that covers the band from 32 to 35 GHz. The antenna is a modified antipodal Vivaldi antenna element with a fluidically loaded dielectric lens to facilitate single-element beam-steering. The fluid used in this work is ethyl acetate (C ₄ H ₈ O ₂ ) with ε _r = 5.0 + j1.3, tan δ = 0.26 at 33.5 GHz. The antenna element and lens are manufactured using a substrate with ε _r = 3.55 and tan δ = 0.0027. Experimental results show that the antenna can produce up to 25° of beam-steering at 32 GHz and up to 20° of beam-steering at 35 GHz. The maximum realized gain of the antenna is 8.6 dBi and the minimum realized gain is 5.6 dBi over the band.24:T464,A microstrip circular patch antenna with frequency and polarization reconfigurability using liquid metal is presented. The antenna has a C-shaped slot cut at the center of the patch and reconfigurability is achieved using two putty containers and liquid metal to switch between four different states. Linear polarization (LP) is observed at 5.83 GHz when there is no liquid metal inside the containers. Depositing two liquid metal droplets in the containers yields circular polarization (CP) at 6 GHz. The right-hand CP (RHCP) is obtained when the right-most container is filled, and the left-hand CP (LHCP) is obtained when the leftmost container is filled with the liquid metal. When all containers are filled, LP is observed at 6.15 GHz. For the LP case, the antenna has a measured gain of 2.68 dB when all containers are filled and a measured gain of 3 dB when the containers are empty, and the axial ratios (ARs) are 19.65 dB (filled containers) and 23.74 dB (empty containers). When the LHCP is activated, the gain is 2.44 dB and the AR is 0.54 dB at 6 GHz. For RHCP, the gain is 2.37 dB and the AR is 1.5 dB at 6 GHz.
