22:T500,Nanocomposites were created by using nanographene oxide (GO) as a reinforcing filler into silicone rubber and evaluating the materials’ mechanical and abrasion resistance properties. GO was treated with 4,4’-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), then mixed with phenyl silicone rubber (PSR) at different concentrations (2-10 phr) and vulcanised. It was investigated the impact of MDI modified GO concentration on the morphology of PSR nanocomposites. The swelling properties of silicone rubber/MDI modified GO nanocomposites were also investigated in relation to penetrants (aromatic, aliphatic, and chlorinated solvents) and nanofiller concentrations (0-10 phr). Due to greater dispersion and reinforcing impact, mechanical parameters (tensile strength and modulus), and swelling resistance of silicone nanocomposites improve with MDI-GO concentration. The rate of rise is constant up to a concentration of 6 phr MDI-GO, after which it drops, confirming the formation of agglomeration. The MDI modification of GO improves the dispersion of MDI-GO in silicone rubber considerably, according to FESEM analysis. Because of its strong contact with the polymer matrix, GO serves as reinforcement. This research expands the range of applications for GO in the silicone rubber sector.23:T4c3,The final performance of polymer-based composites is greatly influenced by the surface modification of fillers, filler dispersion, and interfacial adhesion. In this contribution, silica is modified by polymethylhydrosiloxane (PMHS) using a quick and effective tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane-catalyzed functionalization that can be finished at room temperature in a few minutes. The modified silica exhibits both unaltered reactivity and a highly hydrophobic surface. A comparison of composites containing extracted silica and modified silica reveals that the PMHS modification can improve silica dispersibility by lowering the interfacial energy, as well as enhance interfacial interaction due to the reactivity of the remaining Si-H bonds. The modified composite shows remarkable improvements in mechanical properties with a PMHS grafting percentage as low as 1.5 wt% (63% increase in tensile strength, 12% increase in elongation at break, and 23% increase in modulus). We believe that the hydrosilane-modified silica offers enormous promise for the creation of high-performance polymer composites, owing to the improved overall performance of the modified composites and the ease and speed of the modification process.24:T502,Two types of polymers were tested in this study; poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) as a synthetic example and poly(lactic acid) (PLA) as a natural polymer. DSC analyses showed that the use of nanofiller increased the degree of crystallinity ($X_c$) of both PET and PLA polymers, but the effect was more noticeable on PET nanocomposites. The crystallization of PLA and PET nanocomposites occurred at higher temperatures in comparison to neat polymers. According to dynamic mechanical-thermal analysis (DMTA), the damping factor of PET/$TiO_2$ nanoparticles decreased compared to the neat matrix, but for PLA nanocomposites the opposite trend was observed. Results of the mechanical test showed that for both PET and PLA nanocomposites, the most successful toughening effect was observed at 3 wt% loading of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles. SEM micrographs revealed uniform distribution of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles at 1 and 3 wt% loading levels. The results of WAXD spectra explained that the polymorphs of PLA and PET was not affected by $TiO_2$ nanoparticles. UV-visible spectra showed that $TiO_2$ nanocomposite films had high ultraviolet shielding compared to neat polymer, but there was significant reduction in transparency.
