The duration of pneumoperitoneum was examined in 12 adult and 4 immature dogs. Four dogs were given intra-abdominal injections of 110 ml of air/kg (group 1), 4 were given 55 ml of air/kg (group 2), and 4 were given 27.5 ml of air/kg (group 3). Also, 4 immature dogs were given 110 ml of air/kg (group 4). The number of days from creation of pneumoperitoneum until the radiographic absence of pneumoperitoneum averaged 25 days for group 1, 14 days for group 2, 9 days for group 3, and 17 days for group 4.
