Abstract

An eight -actuator shake table was developed fo r evalu-ating specimen response under conditions that closely simulate actual earthquakes. The system con tains a number of unique hardware and software features that considerably reduce the cost of earthquake sim u-lation testing. These include single -ended a ctuator asse m-blies , contamination -insensitive servo -hydraulics and a robust DSP -based control and data acquisition sy stem . Tests to simulate a number of three-axis earth quake time histories appear to suggest satisfactory table r es-ponse. Keywords: Earth quake simulation, multi-channel servo-control, three -axis shake table, 6 -DOF motion control. C
