A comparison of actual ventilating-air-flow measurements vs. the predictions made by a multicell model indicates that the predictive method is reasonably accurate for a wide range of ventilation conditions. The multicell model applies not only to the projection of whole-house air-change rates but also to the more difficult problem of estimating room ventilation rates. In addition to the internal and external temperatures and wind speed and direction, the major data requirements, for the method are external pressure distribution and a specification of openings in the building. The multicell approach, as opposed to single-cell methods, is potentially more accurate and more useful.
