Computer tapes containing the combined degree-day data sets developed for 51 locations throughout the United States and southern Canada are now available from ASHRAE. The combined sets gave a good geographic spread of weather data related to calculating the mean energy requirements for the heating and cooling of buildings. The comparative energy requirements for the same type of building located in between the hourly data set stations can be reliably estimated using iso-line maps prepared for two different degree-day base levels, one for residential units and one for larger commercial buildings.
