METABOLISM OF PHENYLALANINE AND TYROSINE BY ESCHERICHIA COLI STRAIN K-12

Abstract

The DL-Z'S used in these studies was three-phenyl-oL-serine.Through the courtesy of Dr. Jesse I'.Greenstein, samples of all four diastereoisomers of PS (12) were made available to us for test with strain K-12.Only three-phenyl-L-serine exerted an inhibitory action; its D enantiomorph and both isomers of the erythro series had no effect on growth.
