A new invasive Bactrocera species (Diptera: Tephritidae) in Tanzania

Abstract

Tephritidae are picture-winged flies of variable size and with a worldwide distribution. More than 4000 species are known worldwide (Thompson 1999). Although commonly named 'fruit flies', larval development can also take place in other parts of the host plants, including flowers, and seeds.
