Abstract

Total thyroidectomy seems to be a surgically safe procedure in complicated Graves' disease and to provide normalization of therapy-resistant thyrotrophin receptor antibody titers. Because favorable influences might also encompass severe endocrine ophthalmopathy, prospective analysis on its efficiency is warranted.
