The absolute values of the (n,p) and (n, alpha ) cross sections for 14- Mev neutorns were measured by the activation method. An analysis of data in the literature indicates that in the 12 < A < 150 region sigma depends on 2 and A of the target in a simple way. Comparison of the empirical posed by Gardner leads to a simple dependence of sigma /sub n,p/ on Q/sub n,p/. (auth)
