The order of the first separation of the major phases from primitive Kilaue!a magma is olivine-augite-plagioclase. This same order was obtained in laboratory quenching experiments by other researchers on dry melts of Kilauea lavas of similar composition. However, the liquidus temperatt1res and the indicated temperatures of complete crystallization of the magmas, derived from the data of the 1959-60 eruption, are appreciably lower than those determined in the quenching experiments.
