Abstract

This paper is in two parts, the first of which reviews several possible methods of determining the mica content of a soil and then describes in detail the development and successful operation of two methods, a vibratory method and a dielectric one. The second part of the paper records the results of standard laboratory tests on three soils with a high mica content and discusses the value and limitations of such tests in assessing the field performance of micaceous soils (A).
