Abstract

This paper discusses human-system interface issues related to the design and use of Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS). Areas of discussion include sensor modality allocation, display formats for route selection and navigation, visual display considerations, manual control of displays, workload, older drivers, and driver acceptance and behavior.
