Whereas the ther-apeutic misconception occurs whenone confuses the context of experi-mental clinical research with thecontext of therapeutic medicine,the therapeutic misestimationoccurs when research subjectsunderestimate the risks of theirparticipation in a clinical trial,overestimate the benefits, or both.
