Abstract

In recent years, in recognition of the need for great reliability and safety in nuclear power plant pressure vessels and piping, improved theoretical and experimental methods of analyzing these systems have been developed. Experimental data have been used to check and improve the structural dynamic models developed by theory and to suggest areas in which the modeling theory can be improved. A bewildering number of methods to acquire and use experimental data to improve models have been investigated. The purpose of this review is to appraise and critique these methods and to recommend the most promising.
