Lin's approximate formula for the minimum critical Reynolds Number is used to study the entrance flow into a channel, the boundary layer with pressure gradient, and the boundary layer with suction. I t is found that the results thus obtained compare favorably with much more elaborate calculations wherever they are available. In the case of the entrance flow into a channel, the new result is found—that the entrance section is comparatively more stable than the fully developed parabolic velocity distribution.
