Abstract

Electronic data interchange, defined as the computer-to-computer exchange of business information electronically, in a structured format, between business trading partners, (EDI) is essential in well managed logistic systems. This paper formulates and evaluates a series of propositions regarding EDI and truckload general freight carriers by reviewing recent literature published in logistics journals. Also compared are shipper and carrier perspectives about EDI issues.
