This paper verifies that concrete containing fly ash is very resistant to chloride penetration, and that the rapid chloride test can be used, but that the results have to be correlated with the AASHTO T259 chloride ponding test. The concrete mixtures evaluated were air entrained and contained cementitious materials combinations. The chemical and physical properties of the cement and fly ash complied with the requirements of ASTM C 150 and C 618, respectively.
