Issues in the chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries related to runaway chemical reactions are included in this book. Particular emphasis is placed on chemical reactivity and pressure relief design. Five major topics are addressed: experimental techniques for thermal hazards assessment, analytical (including simplified) tools for thermal hazards assessment and emergency relief system (ERS) design, elements of ERS design using Design Institute for Emergency Relief Systems (DIERS) technology, advanced ERS design, and mitigation design. Separate abstracts were prepared for 25 papers of this book.
