Abstract

This book describes the state-of-the-art in the field of intact ship stability. The book reviews knowledge, experience and information gathered in both regulatory and operational aspects of intact stability of ships over the last 50 years. The various methods used for developing stability standards are discussed and a critical review of current standards is provided. In considering the operational aspect of stability, ocean environment and ship behavior are described as they are seen from the bridge. Human factors in preventing capsizing are also considered. The book is appropriate for researchers, academics and professionals in ocean engineering.
