The HASTUS system is the result of nearly ten years of research and development at the Centre de recherche sur les transports of the Universite de Montreal and at GIRO Inc. Several previous papers have described the mathematical model used. This paper describes the sophisticated man-machine interface that was designed for HASTUS, both for vehicle and crew scheduling. The interactive system had made HASTUS easy to use and to implement. Some results from its implementation in Montreal are also reported.
